Detailed Shop Descriptions for Persons with Limited Mobility

SUMMARY: Our space is stair-free, but not 100% wheelchair friendly. The floors are smooth with the exception of two area rugs. The narrowest doorway is 32.” The bathroom access has a tight corner with 25” aisle and the door will present a challenge for limited grasp.

Parking

Our parking lot is very large, though uneven in areas and no assigned handicapped parking spaces. (It is scheduled to be re-paved and lined in the next year). Vehicles with ramps and lifts should have no problem finding space to maneuver. On the occasional busy days among other businesses within the shopping center, we expect the furthest distance from available parking to our storefront to be less than 40 yards.

Entrance

There is a 2.75” mini curb to the entrance of our store. The door is 34” wide with 2” tall threshold. It does not have an automatic open switch. The door would be difficult for individuals in wheelchairs to open alone. Our staff will be happy to assist with holding the door for any individual.

Shopping

Our boutique is quite small. The larger aisle is 53” wide and the smallest aisle is 31” wide. The floors are wood laminate with no rugs.

Studio/Event Space

The entrance to our studio/event space includes a doorway that is 34.5” wide with a 1/4” graded threshold covered by a doormat. The studio floor is wood laminate with no rugs. The studio is 900 sq ft of open floorplan.

Herb/Tea Bar

The entry to our herb/tea bar is 45” wide with a 1/4” threshold covered by a non-slip, heavy woven fiber runner rug that measures 28” wide. The herb bar is elevated 22” high with the shelf of herbs at 62”, so staff members typically assist all clients with reaching our herb cannisters.

Healing Room

The entrance to our healing room is 32” wide. The door is typically only opened and closed by your service provider as needed for privacy during reading/services. The door does not have a lock nor is it an automatic open switch. The aisle to reach the armchairs is 45” wide. The healing table can be raised or lowered from 21” to 32” height, or removed from the room altogether to allow individuals in wheelchairs to remain in their chair with plenty of turn radius.

Restroom

To reach the single, gender-neutral, private restroom, individuals cross through the boutique, studio, and herb bar areas - 25” wide at it’s most narrow with a 1/4” threshold covered by a non-slip, heavy woven fiber runner rug that measures 28” wide. There is one tight corner that must be maneuvered to reach the restroom. The restroom doorway measures 32” wide. The door is heavy steel and requires medium effort with an firm grasping hand on the knob to close securely. Staff is happy to assist with pulling the door taught and waiting outside the door to assist with re-opening the door. The toilet is 16” in height and does not have grasp bars. The sink is 22” height.
