The Casual Coven
A monthly practicum in practical magic
Welcome to your monthly escape into the art of mindful, enchanted living!
A tad tongue-in-cheek? Absolutely. But, if you, too, are looking to dip your toes into a more magical life but aren’t sure if the group chants or bare-your-soul vulnerability is for you, you’ve come to the right place.
Each month, we pick one topic or practice commonly used to help folks align to nature’s cycles, mindfulness practices, and self-care, and we’ll dig into its history, cultural significance, and mechanics.
Our gatherings are filled with roundtable discussions, practical applications, and end with a simple, yet sacred, circle.

Talismans & Amulets
This introductory workshop offers an in-depth exploration of talismans and amulets, key elements in the belief systems of various cultures worldwide. Through an anthropological lens, we will examine the significance, symbolism, and usage of these powerful objects.
From the Egyptian Eye of Horus to the Norse tradition of Mjölnir, Chinese jade amulets to Vodun gris gris bags, the evil eye to dreamcatchers, we’ll have plenty of examples to explore cross-culturally. Additionally, participants are encouraged to bring personal examples of talismans or amulets from their own lives.
The workshop will culminate in a creative session, where participants will draw on their own cultural practices and belief systems to design a personalized amulet or talisman.
