This week, we will bring in the majestic sounds of the Himalayas. Once you're settled into each pose, the bowls take over, further inducing relaxation and stillness. Yin is a restorative practice focusing on the deep connective tissue of the body - joints, ligaments, bones and deep fascia. It is a passive practice in which we hold poses for 3 -10 min. The muscles are gently engaged to hold postures without any extra effort in order to stretch out the connective tissues throughout our body. Because you’re holding poses for a longer period, yin yoga helps you stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues while also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts. Making it a meditative and restorative practice.
